Gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD) which is caused by a bacterium called Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is an inflammatory disease and causes pain and irritation in the mucous membrane of male and female genitalia. It results in discharging of white mucus from the genitals.
Causes and Symptoms
Gonorrhea is sexually transmitted and can be transferred from an infected individual to a healthy individual via all forms of sexual contacts. It is usually transmitted via sexual intercourse. However, it can also get transmitted by coming in contact with an infected person’s towels or clothes that have the discharge.
According to Ayurveda, Gonorrhea is caused due to Vata Dosha.
Symptoms in Men
The initial symptoms include irritation of the urethra accompanies by a burning sensation and pain while urinating. White-colored pus is also discharged from the penis. If ignored, the organs like the prostate glands, bladder, testicles get inflamed and become a significant reason for discomfort and pain.
Symptoms in Women
Symptoms for Gonorrhea is characterized by the discharge of a yellowish fluid from their vagina, during the initial days. It is accompanied by a frequent urge to urinate. Urination is painful, and there is a burning sensation along the mouth of the vagina. The glands close to the vulva also get inflamed. If left untreated, the inflammation spreads to the ovaries, the uterus, and the fallopian tubes. Sexual intercourses are painful, and the patient experiences pain in the lower abdominal areas as well. Irregular periods and frequent bleeding in regular days become common.
Ayurvedic Medicines
- Chandanadi Vati: This medicine needs to be taken every two hours.
- Shatapatryadi Churna: 5 mg of this medicine mixed with warm cow’s milk is prescribed during night time.
- Puyamehantaka Rasa, Raladi Churna: 1 mg of the first and 3 mg of the second mixed with water and needs to be taken three times daily
Diet to Follow
When suffering from Gonorrhea, patients are recommended the anti-Vata diet. They need to consume easily digestible food and avoid fatty and spicy food completely. A lot of fluid intake is also intake, and dry food should be avoided. Alcohol is also a strict no.
Kanji or the rice-cooked water is considered to be very beneficial for the symptoms. Fruits with high water content are good for the condition. Rice and milk should be made a part of everyday meal. Drinking a warm glass of milk before bed is also considered to be good for patients suffering from Gonorrhea.
